The Cannes Film Festival marked its 66th year last May 15. It was a 12-day celebration of glam, prestige and sheer dynamism of the global film industry, and of course media's much coveted, the "Red Carpet Steps". Over the years, the Festival has evolved, seeking to preserve its core values: "a passion for cinema, the discovery of new talent, and the bringing together of professionals and journalists from around the world with the aim of contributing to the creation and distribution of films," enthused Cannes' Mr Thierry Fremaux. While Philippine cinema has yet to break film recognition tastefully overseas, we can't help but oogle with our ohhs and ahhs at what the Festival's A-listers' a-game in fashion brought in. Here I rounded up my favorite fashion, trimmed down the list for yah all! The season's gust blew in an array of white renditions, sheer satisfactions, and princess puffs. Which look transcends the fashion portal?! Better yet, which style will you see hanging in your own closet rack?! Watch out for my bestdressed leading ladies at the end of this post!

While all these gorgeous ladies decked out in perfect designer muses, my top 3 would vehemently have to be Carey Mulligan, Audrey Tautou, and Solange Knowles. Carey Mulligan looked effortlessly chic in Vionnet and Balenciaga paired with a sleek updo, but my favorite was Carey in Dior-- she was a vision in plunging white. Carey took cue in taming her styling (which for now we can assume as her style preference-- tailored, clean, with a touch of avant garde here and there) and opted for bloody red lips to seal the deal. Audrey Tautou in Prada with her pixie cut was genius. Criss-cross at the back! Oh la la! And last but never the least, Solange Knowles rocked in Stephane Rolland. Solange knew how to put fashion forward in this nude sheer number underneath a nude leotard. The thigh-high slit broke the silence of this nearly covert creation. And so, having said, with considerate brain racking and subjective fashion nitpicking, my bestdressed goes to...
